



David Berthon has been involved in motoring journalism since 1980 and has been on Sydney radio since 1981 and on radio 2GB with his Motor Torque segments since 1995, gaining a strong following. He has also been a columnist in the Sydney Morning Herald and Unique Cars. David has also covered major international motoring events on radio such as the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Frankfurt, Paris, Geneva, Detroit, and Tokyo International Motor Shows, the London to Brighton Rally, the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance and our own Adelaide, Melbourne and Indy Car Grand Prix’s A regular attendee at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on the Monterey Peninsula David has a strong interest in automotive preservation and has recently restored a rare 1913 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Torpedo Tourer. On completion this car won ‘Best in Show’ at the 2017 MotorClassica in Melbourne. His latest restoration is a rare 1928 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Imperial Cabriolet. He has also been a Best of Show Judge at Melbourne’s premier classic car show MotorClassica and a judge at the recent Sydney Harbour Concours d’Elegance.

DAY 2 Saturday August 31, 2024 London, UK
After we arrive David will take the group to visit the spectacular Blenheim Palace,
home to the Dukes of Marlborough and the birthplace of Winston Churchill, for the
Concours d’Elégance Salon Privé. Gathered on the South Lawn will be the finest
collection of classic automobiles available in the UK.
DAY 3 Sunday September 1, 2024 Concours of Elegance
Today we visit the prestigious Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. This
event, which is always held in the grounds of a royal palace, was held at Hampton
Court Palace in 2019. In 2023 another sixty rare motor cars will again line up in the
grounds of Hampton Court Palace to vie for the trophy of Best in Show. Perhaps the
most prestigious and interesting Concours event in Britain in 2023, this event will
be one of the highlights of the tour. We then travel north to our hotel.
DAY 4 Monday September 2, 2024 Hethel, UK
Today we travel to the town of Hethel, where we visit the Lotus factory, where
precision manufacturing is beautifully combined with innovative engineering. We
discover the history and heritage of Lotus as we follow each step in the creation
of these magnificent machines, and take a walk through the years that saw the
company develop from a shed based, one-man operation into the automotive
thoroughbred it is today. Later there will be an opportunity to drive or take a taxi
lap on the Lotus track (extra charge).
DAY 5 Tuesday September 3, 2024 Birmingham
We travel to the midlands today and visit the British Motor Museum which is home
to the world’s largest collection of historic British cars before transferring to our
hotel in Birmingham.
DAY 6 Wednesday September 4, 2024 Cheltenham, UK
This morning we visit the Landrover factory to see how these vehicles are made.
We then visit the Coventry Transport Museum which houses the largest publicly
owned collection of British vehicles on the planet, and tells the story of a city that
changed the world through transport. We then transfer to our hotel in Cheltenham.
DAY 7 Thursday September 5, 2024 Eastnor Castle
Today we travel to Eastnor Castle for a Land Rover drive day. Drive through the
challenging Land Rover tracks with an instructor in an area of outstanding natural
beauty. A fantastic day driving around the Land Rover Castle where the vehicles
have been tested for over 60 years.
DAY 8 Friday September 6, 2024 Portsmouth
Today we travel first to the famed manufacturer Morgan, who still builds their
cars by hand with wood and tin. A fascinating trip into the past! We then visit the
National Automobile Museum at Beaulieu. The museum houses a collection of over
250 automobiles and motorcycles, which tell the story of motoring on the roads of
Britain from the dawn of motoring to the present day. We then continue on to our
hotel near Goodwood.
DAY 9 Saturday September 7, 2024 Goodwood Revival Festival
A highlight of the tour, David takes the group to The Goodwood Revival Festival. It
is truly a magical step back in time, celebrating the halcyon days of motor racing
as it used to be, with all of the accompanying spectacle and glamour of the era.
Competitors and spectators alike dress in period fashions, with the finest sights and
entertainment of the pre-1966 era for all to enjoy. Held in the immaculate grounds
of Goodwood House, this annual event is a true celebration of historic motoring.
DAY 10 Sunday September 8, 2024 Goodwood Revival Festival
Our second day at the Goodwood. Later this afternoon we transfer to our hotel at
Heathrow airport.
DAY 11 Monday September 9, 2024 Modena, Italy
This morning we fly to Italy and on arrival visit the Panini collection of classic
Maserati cars, a collection containing most models of this historic marque before
the modern era. We then transfer to our hotel.
DAY 12 Tuesday September 10, 2024 Modena
This morning we will visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum. Built around the home Enzo
Ferrari grew up in, the museum details the great car manufacturer’s life amongst
a classic collection of the cars he created. We then travel to Maranello, where the
Ferrari factory is located, visit the Ferrari museum and take a bus tour through the
factory grounds. The ground floor of the museum is dedicated to Formula One;
upstairs are the Ferrari road cars, where pride of place goes to The Enzo, the car
dedicated to its founder. We have an included lunch, at the Ristorante Cavallino, the
famous restaurant where Enzo Ferrari used to dine. There will also be an opportunity
to drive a Ferrari!* (*Extra charge applicable) This afternoon we visit the Ferruccio
Lamborghini Museum that details the life of the founder of this marque.
DAY 13 Wednesday September 11, 2024 Modena
This morning we travel to the home of Lamborghini in the town of Sant’Agata
Bolognese, south of Bologna. We have a tour of the factory where these amazing
supercars are manufactured. You will see the assembly line and follow, step-bystep, the making of a car: from the bodyshell to the interior and the mounting
of Lamborghini’s engine. We will then visit the acclaimed Lamborghini museum
which has an example of almost every vehicle manufactured by the company. We
then travel to the town of San Cesario sul Panaro where the relatively new marque
of Pagani are manufactured. We visit their factory and find out how these amazing
vehicles are manufactured.
DAY 14 Thursday September 12, 2024 Turin, Italy
Today we travel north to Turin. On the way we will stop to visit the Alfa Romeo
museum. A fantastic collection of vehicles that document the history of this
important marque. We then continue to Turin and our hotel.
DAY 15 Friday September 13, 2024 Turin
Today we visit the National Automobile Museum of Italy. The collection has around
200 cars and includes the first Italian cars, Bernardi 1896 and 1899 Fiat, the Rolls
Royce Silver Ghost 1914, and racing cars by Ferrari and Alfa Romeo. This afternoon
we visit the Fiat Museum that has an impressive collection of these vehicles. Those
wishing to dine together can meet in the lobby where the tour manager will suggest
good value restaurants for dinner.
DAY 16 Saturday September 14, 2024 Mulhouse, France
Today we depart Turin and travel to the city of Mulhouse France.
DAY 17 Sunday September 15, 2024 Mulhouse, France/
Stuttgart Germany
On one of the highlights of the tour today, this morning we will visit the famous
Schlumpf collection of classic cars. This fabulous collection of 400 vintage cars
including some of rarest Bugattis, was assembled by Fritz Schlumpf. The museum
highlights over one hundred years of automobile history, from the “ancestors”
(1895-1918) and “classic cars” (1918-38) to “modern” vehicles of the post 1945
period. A second section is devoted to race cars. We then travel to the prosperous
city of Stuttgart, home of both Mercedes Benz and Porsche.
DAY 18 Monday September 16, 2024 Stuttgart
This morning David takes us to visit the Mercedes museum. The museum details
the development of the automobile from its invention to the present day. This
afternoon we visit the Porsche museum at Zuffenhausen, just outside of Stuttgart.
It is located in a stunning piece of architecture and chronicles the history if this
iconic brand with over 80 examples exhibited. We then take a tour of the Porsche
factory seeing how these iconic sportscars are made.
DAY 19 Tuesday September 17, 2024 Stuttgart/Nurburg, Germany
This morning we first travel to the Auto and Teknik museum at Sinsheim. An
enormous museum that contains a collection of 100s of cars as well as aircraft and
military vehicles it will keep you occupied. We continue on to the town of Nurburg
location of the famed Nurburgring track, and then check into our hotel.
DAY 20 Wednesday September 18, 2024 Nurburg
In one of the highlights of the tour, we will take an amazing driving tour around the
area on public roads in a selection of modern classic sports cars. We then visit the

afternoon there will be an opportunity to drive the famous Nurburgring (subject to
track availability) at an additional charge. The Nurburgring, nicknamed “The Green
Hell” by Jackie Stewart, is widely considered to be one of the most demanding
and difficult purpose-built racing circuits in the world. The home of the German
Grand Prix until 1939 on the full circuit and until 1977 on the northern circuit. Driving
this amazing track will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This evening we enjoy
an included dinner at Pistenklause, the Schmitz’s family motor racing themed
restaurant to celebrate our time at the Nurburgring and to celebrate our tour!
DAY 21 Thursday September 19, 2024 Departure
We are transferred to Frankfurt Airport for our flight back to Australia.

complete and sign a Travelrite International booking form.
Deposits and Payments:
A deposit of $1200 per passenger
should be sent with a completed Travelrite International
booking. As soon as the booking is confirmed, (usually
within 24 hours), a confirmation advice will be posted to
the client. Final payments are due to be paid to Travelrite
International 60 days prior to the commencement of the
tour. A 1.5% administration fee will be added to payments
by credit card.

Travel Insurance:
Adequate travel insurance is
highly recommended to cover tour members for the
consequences of unforeseen events during the tour and
for cancellation fees which could result from events such

Baggage:
All passengers qualify for 23kg free baggage
allowance.

has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of
passengers having booked 60 days prior to departure.

Travelrite may without reference to you provide or make
available to you, or may as your agent engage any third
party to provide or make available to you, any good or service which Travelrite reasonably believes is necessary
for your benefit to maintain the tour itinerary, repatriate
you or otherwise accommodate, transport or sustain you
in circumstances in which the tour itinerary fails wholly or
partly for any reason. You appoint Travelrite International
your attorney for this purpose. You agree to pay Travelrite
any cost thereof and you indemnify Travelrite in respect of
any cost it incurs in this regard. Travelrite advises you to
obtain travel insurance generally including in respect of the
risk that any such good or service may become required.
