This morning you have the option of doing
a hot air balloon ride over the famous Valley
of the Kings and West Bank of Luxor. In the

a large Ancient Egyptian temple complex on
the Eastern Bank of the Nile River. Constructed
around 1300BC, the temple was built by
Amenhotep III, completed by Tutankhamun
and added to by Rameses II and has been
continuously used as a place of worship right
up to the present day. Meals included: Breakfast
Day 8 Monday 15 April, 2024 Luxor/Embark Nile Cruise
This morning we visit the final resting place
of Hatshepsut, Egypt’s first woman pharaoh,
and stroll the shady arcades of her stunning
temple, which is set at the base of soaring
cliffs. We continue to the famed Valley of
the Kings, resting place of the pharaohs. The
tombs of the pharaohs were placed deep
in the Theban Hills from 1,500 BC to stop
robbers stealing priceless treasures. In the
early afternoon we are transferred to our
Nile Cruise. After enjoying lunch onboard,
we visit Karnak Temple, a place that is still
capable of overshadowing many of the
wonders of the modern world. It covers
about 81 hectares 1.5km by 0.8km. The area
of the sacred enclosure of Amon alone is 61
acres and would hold ten average European
cathedrals. The great temple at the heart of
Karnak is so big, St Peter’s, Milan and Notre
Dame Cathedrals could be lost within its walls.
The Hypostyle hall at 5,000 square metre
with its 134 columns is still the largest room
of any religious building in the world. Follow
dramatic stories of ancient life on intricate
friezes, visit a sacred, ceremonial lake and walk
between aisles of fierce sphinxes that guard
the temple entrance.

Egypt and is dedicated to Horus, the son of
Isis and Osiris. We travel back to the ship and
sail to Kom Ombo to visit the temple. Rising
dramatically above the Nile River, the Temple
of Kom Ombo is one of Egypt’s most beautiful
sights. Dedicated to the local crocodile god
Sobek, and Horus, the god of protection,
Kom Ombo is unique because it has a mirrorimage
design, divided down the middle, with
either side dedicated to each god. We will
also visit the onsite Crocodile Museum to view

ancient carvings. We return to the cruise and
sail to Aswan. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch

between 1274 and 1244BC, the Great Temple
of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor were

best known archaeological sites. Both temples

of Old Cairo including the hanging church,
Beni Ezra synagogue and the famous Kham El
Khalili baazars, which sell a vast array of spices,
