



During the day casual clothing is typical, although shorts and swimwear are not permitted in the restaurants. During the evening on formal nights, a dinner suit or dark suit for gentlemen and eveningwear for ladies is required in the main restaurants. Casual nights require a collared shirt for gentlemen. The self-service restaurants are casual.
About a third of people on the cruise travel alone. We will match people up in twin-share cabins when available – saving you the single supplement. You won’t be left alone; the Travelrite tour manager will be looking after you. There will be group activities almost every day.
The cruise is fully escorted and will be a great fun holiday with plenty of activities. Each evening dine with the group on our reserved tables. You will meet a fun group of people and have a fabulous time.
Oosterdam is the second in Holland America Line’s series of Vista-class ships. Launched in 2003 with a capacity of 1900 passengers she embraces the latest industry and environmental technologies and is the perfect, spacious, mid sized ship. The centerpiece of Oosterdam is a magnificent Waterford crystal globe, prominently displayed in the three-story atrium. She features an extensive use of crystal, marble, inlaid woods and brass, lovely flower arrangements, priceless artwork and antiques and a full wraparound teak promenade deck with padded deck chairs. Throughout the ship there are restaurants to suit every mood, from authentic Italian cuisine to a legendary experience at Le Cirque to a perfectly grilled porterhouse steak. Savor the many diverse restaurants and delicious menus inspired by the latest trends. Evenings on board brim with choices. Take in a thrilling show in the lounge, try your luck in the Casino, or sing along in the piano bar. Explore the varied gathering places to suit every taste. A highlight is the BB King’ Blues Club. VIEW ITINERARYDay 1 Depart Australia
Today we board our flights to Barcelona.
Day 2 Barcelona, Spain
This morning we arrive at Barcelona airport. After clearing customs, we will
be met by our private coach and transferred to our hotel. We will have time
to freshen up before an overview sightseeing tour of exciting Barcelona.
Day 3 Barcelona, Spain
This morning we will enjoy a sightseeing tour with a local guide of Barcelona.
We will see the historic cathedral and the beautiful streets of the Gothic
Quarter as well as the modernist Eixample district and see examples of Gaudi’s
stunning architecture, including the famous Sagrada Familia. We will visit
Parc Guell, which is a combination of architectural and landscape features
with mature and natural looking plantings. The park was commissioned by
Count Eusebi Guell in the 1890s. By 1914, Antoni Gaudi had completed the
famous features that are most enjoyed by the park’s visitors today. Among
them is the grand iron-balustrade entrance, with its mosaic tile work on the
walls and the imposing staircase dragon. This evening we have an included
welcome dinner to meet the group members.
Day 4 Embarkation
This morning is free for individual exploration. In the early afternoon we are
transferred to the cruise terminal. Make sure that you are up on deck as the
Oosterdam sails out of Barcelona and we commence our ‘Medieval Cities of
the Mediterranean’ cruise.
Day 5 Marseille, France
Today we arrive in Marseilles. We board our coach to travel to Aix-en-
Provence, the old capital of Provence for a sightseeing tour. Aix is a graceful
city known for its beautiful sandstone buildings. We will see the Old Town
with its attractive 18th and 19th-century squares, many of them with
attractive fountains in their centre. There will also be time to explore the
many interesting shops and cafés.
Day 6 Cannes
This morning we arrive at the city of Cannes. We travel to the fairy-tale
principality of Monaco to Monte Carlo, most noted for its glamorous
atmosphere, as it is considered Monaco’s wealthiest district. We see the
Formula One Grand Prix circuit, the cathedral (built in 1878) where Princess
Grace is buried and the Royal Palace, home to Prince Albert 2. We will travel
along the Grand Cornice, the most famous panorama road in the world,
and see the spectacular French Riviera with its numerous beaches strung
together as we head back to Cannes via Nice.
Day 7 Florence, Italy
Today we travel to Florence for a walking tour of the great medieval city,
capital of Tuscany. Home of Michelangelo and the Medici family, the city was
the cradle of the Renaissance. During our walking tour we see the Piazza del
Duomo, one of the largest cathedrals in the Christian world. Together with
Brunelleschi’s wonderful dome, we see the Campanile and the Baptistry. We
also wander through the Piazza della Signoria, which contains the Loggia
della Signoria, the Palazza Vecchio and nearby, the Ponte Vecchio over the
Arno River. There will be free time to explore Florence.
Day 8 Rome
This morning we arrive in the port of Civitavecchia and travel by coach
to Rome. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the ‘Eternal City’ and see the
Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, where
group members can throw a coin and make a wish to return to Rome one
day. In the afternoon we will return to the Oosterdam.
Day 9 Naples
We arrive in Naples this morning and have a tour of the beautiful resort town
of Sorrento, with its spectacular views of the Bay of Naples. We then visit the
ancient, perfectly preserved ruins of Pompeii, a wealthy settlement of the
Roman Empire, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD. We will have
a tour of the ruins with a local guide to see the Forum, the House of the Vetti,
a well-preserved aristocratic villa and much more.
Day 10 Taormina
Today we call in to the island of Sicily. We travel to the famous resort of
Taormina, spectacularly located high on a 200-metre-high rocky outcrop,
with views to Mt Etna. The town, founded by the Greeks, has an ancient
theatre that also overlooks the mountain. Since the 18th century, Taormina
has been a popular travel destination. We will walk around the medieval
centre and see the Terrace Piazza IX April, with its views overlooking Mt Etna
and the sea. We will visit Torre dell’Orologio, a restored 12th-century clock
tower and the famous Ancient Greek theatre, founded in the third century BC
and rebuilt by the Romans at the end of the first century – it is spectacularly
sited with views of Mt Etna in the distance.
Day 11 Day at sea
A day at sea to enjoy the facilities of the ship. This afternoon test your
knowledge with fellow group members at Trivia.
Day 12 Corfu, Greece
This morning we arrive in Corfu, the most northern island of the Ionian
Group, lying at the entrance of the Adriatic Sea. On our tour today, we will
visit Corfu Town with its unique architecture influenced by Venetian, French
and British occupation. The most notable examples are the Old and New
Fortresses (Venetian) as well as the Palace of Saint Michael & Saint George
(British) which now houses an impressive Museum of Asiatic Art. We finish
our tour at the Liston, Corfu Town’s traditional meeting place. The afternoon
is free for shopping or sightseeing.
Day 13 Kotor, Montenegro
Today we sail up the picturesque Bay of Kotor, a submerged river canyon. A
fantastic landscape is created by the overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen
and Lovcen. The town was founded by the ancient Romans in 168 BC and
conquered by the Venetians in the 15th century. The port of Kotor was built
by the Republic of Venice and is surrounded by impressive city walls. There
are many attractive Venetian buildings in the town. We will have a morning
tour to explore this interesting city.
Day 14 Dubrovnik, Croatia
This morning we call in to the historic city of Dubrovnik. Known as The
Jewel of the Adriatic, the city is situated on a promontory surrounded by
the beautiful waters of the Adriatic Sea. It is renowned for the beauty of its
monuments, its magnificent city walls and welcoming atmosphere. It was
founded by fugitives from the Roman city of Epidaurum during the seventh
century. We have a comprehensive tour of Dubrovnik and see the impressive
Fort of St John and the Sponza Palace, which was built in the 14th century
as the Mint for the city.
Day 15 Trieste, Italy
Trieste has a rich historical and cultural background that played a strong
role for the economy of the Hapsburg Empire and later the Austro-Hungarian
monarchy. On our sightseeing tour we see some beautiful Catholic and
Orthodox churches and one of the most beautiful synagogues in Middle
Europe, built in a Syrian style. We will see palaces of remarkable architectural
value in Neo-Classical style and Italy’s largest square overlooking the sea,
Piazza Unità d’Italia. We will also visit the castle of Miramare, the residence of
Maximilian from Hapsburg and his wife Charlotte from Belgium. Surrounded
by a wonderful park of 22 hectares with rare botanical species, the castle
is an example of a noble residence of the mid-seventeenth century. We
overnight aboard the Oosterdam in Trieste
Day 16 Venice
This morning we transfer to Venice and our hotel. Built on 117 islands, Venice
was once the head of the Mediterranean empire. We will have two nights
here to enjoy the canals, renaissance palazzos and of course, the fabulous
food and wine from the Veneto region. The rest of the day will be free for
individual exploration.
Day 17 Venice
Today we will have a sightseeing tour of this beautiful city. We visit St Mark’s
Square, see the Grand Canal, St Mark’s Cathedral, the Doge’s Palace and the
Bridge of Sighs. We will wind our way through the narrow alleyways to the
market square of the Rialto. The rest of the day will be free for individual
exploration. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate our
wonderful cruise.
Day 18 Departure
This morning the group will be transferred to Venice airport for the flight
back to Australia.
Day 19 Arrival Australia
Tour members arrive back in Australia. The tour concludes.

International touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.
TOUR OPERATOR:
The tour costs are based on airfare, shipping,
general transport, accommodation costs and foreign exchange
rates at 1 June 2022. Travelrite International reserves the right to
alter the costs if any of these factors change, giving any passenger
that has booked the right to withdraw with full refund of monies
paid or modify arrangements. No alterations to price will be made
within 90 days of departure from Australia.
DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT:
A deposit of $900 per passenger should
be sent with a completed Travelrite International booking form
that lists your requested cabin category. As soon as the booking is
confirmed a cruise confirmation advice will be posted to the client.
The confirmation advice will contain all details. The passenger
must also complete the Holland America Line on line check in.
Final payments are due to be paid to Travelrite International 90
days prior to the commencement of the Oosterdam fly/cruise. A
1.5% administration fee will be added to payments by credit card.

REFUNDS:
The cruise is based on arrangements which do not
allow for any refunds in respect to sightseeing, accommodation,
meals or other services not utilised after the tour has commenced.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS:
All passengers will require a valid passport
with six month validity. If not an Australian passport holder check
with Travelrite International for visa requirements.
TRAVEL INSURANCE:
Adequate travel insurance is highly recommended
to cover cruise members for the consequences of
unforeseen events during the cruise and for cancellation fees
which could result from events such as illness, accident, death etc.
BAGGAGE:
Passengers qualify for a 20kg free baggage allowance
on flights to join or return from the cruise.
MINIMUM TOUR NUMBERS:
The fly/cruise arrangements have
been made on the basis of a minimum number of passengers
travelling. In the event that less than the required number of
passengers have confirmed their booking 90 days from the date
of departure, Travelrite International reserves the right to cancel
the tour, giving a full refund of monies paid, or offer arrangements
to proceed with the tour at a modified fare.
TOUR PARTICIPATION:
Children under 5 years of age are ineligible on coach & cruise tours. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers with disabilities are welcome on Travelrite & Cruise Offers tours provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance, and do not require special assistance from Travelrite & Cruise Offers personnel. Travelrite and Cruise Offers reserves the right to refuse to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of coach & cruise tour travel and who may require services and facilities that Travelrite & Cruise Offers cannot guarantee will be available. You agree to not hold the Travelrite & Cruise Offers responsible for any decision made by any of them or any service provider to refuse to carry you, provide any facilities or accommodation to you or to provide any service to you.

death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an
act of negligence or a default of any hotel, carrier restaurant

or by act of God. Further, no responsibilities are accepted for
any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labour disputes,
machinery break-down, quarantine, government restraints,
weather, terrorism or other causes beyond their control. No
responsibility is accepted for any additional expense, omission,
delays, re-routing or acts of any government authority. Baggage
is at owners’ risk throughout the fly/cruise. The passage contract
between the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the
sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of this fly/
