This morning we arrive at St Peter Port, Guernsey’s main town, built into a steep valley leading down to the harbour, with spectacular views across to Alderney and the other islands. We have a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the island to see the delightful rural and coastal scenery. The granite buildings now occupied by shops were once the homes of the town’s wealthy and the High Street still has its original cobbles. The town was put on the map in 1855 when Victor Hugo, exiled from France, made his home at Hauteville House and where he wrote Les Miserables.

DAY 6 Wednesday 7 August, 2019 Cork, Eire
This morning we arrive at the port city of Cork, the third largest city in Ireland after Dublin and Belfast. On our tour today we visit Blarney Castle, famous the world over for being the place where you can kiss the ‘Blarney Stone’. We return to the city of Cork where you have some time to explore before we return to the ship.

We travel along part of the beautiful coastal road to take in the stunning views on our way to the Giant’s Causeway to see the remarkable rock formations. The lunar landscape of the Giant’s Causeway is a World Heritage site where the basalt columns packed tightly together have made the Giant’s Causeway the subject of numerous legends. Touring around the island we also see the dramatic natural scenery including rugged cliffs and the prolific birdlife.

DAY 12 Tuesday 13 August, 2019 Inverness, Scotland
Today we arrive at Inverness, near the famous Loch Ness. It is the largest Scottish loch by volume, indeed experts say that it contains more freshwater than all the lakes of England and Wales combined! On our tour today we first make the short journey into bonnie Glen Urquhart, famous for its native woodlands and wide variety of wildlife that they support. Urquhart Castle is a magnificent castle that dates from the 14th century and was one of a chain of garrisons that controlled the Great Glen. Nowadays it’s a popular place with “Nessie” spotters who scan the waters of the loch that are deeper here than the North Sea! Next we visit the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre in the pleasant village of Drumnadrochit.

We then continue to the city of London for free time perhaps to do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing at your own leisure.
