DAY 1 Friday 27 May 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Workshop members will be met at Longreach
airport for the arrival of the Brisbane flight at
12.05pm and then transferred to the workshop
hotel. Longreach is the heart of Outback
Queensland and is home to attractions including
the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas
Founders Museum. This evening the group will
meet for welcome drinks and an included dinner.
DAY 2 Saturday 28 May 2022
Longreach, Queensland
This morning we visit the Australian Stockman’s
Hall of Fame to discover Australia’s rich pioneering
history. There are five themed galleries at the
Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback
Heritage Centre – each one depicting an
important aspect of our pioneering history. In the
afternoon, John will find a great painting location
nearby and complete a demonstration. Following
this John will assist individual workshop members
with their painting.
DAY 3 Sunday 29 May 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Longreach is the largest town in central
Queensland, and has many beautiful buildings.
John will find some great subjects in town for a
full day of painting. This evening there will be an
included dinner.
DAY 4 Monday 30 May 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Today we will have a tour and visit the Qantas
Founders museum. The Museum tells the story
of Australia’s national airline, from its early days in
Outback Queensland to present day. Characters
of the early Qantas days, their pioneering spirit
and the impact the airline had for all Australians, is
brought to life through life size exhibits, historical
artefacts and interactive displays including the
National Heritage listed Qantas Hangar. In the
afternoon John will find a great painting location
nearby and complete a demonstration. Following
this John will assist individual workshop members
with their painting.
DAY 5 Tuesday 31 May 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Today’s painting subject will be the Longreach
Railway station that was built from 1887 to 1917.
It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register
on 12 December 2005. This evening we will enjoy a
gentle sunset cruise down the majestic Thomson
River, where birds flock home to roost on the
riverbanks. There are endless photo opportunities
and an insightful commentary as you pass natural
features before we go ashore for a traditional
stockman’s camp-fire dinner. This is the real outback
experience with inspiring and humorous traditional
entertainment featuring a barefoot bush poet. Next,
the bush is illuminated by the Starlight’s Spectacular
Sound & Light Picture Show – a unique big-screen
presentation featuring the Kinnon family and locals in the amazing adventures of the notorious cattle
thief known as ‘Captain Starlight’. Finally in the
atmospheric surroundings of the bush at night
enjoy the timeless favourite – billy tea and damper.
DAY 6 Wednesday 1 June 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Today we travel to Ilfracombe, famous for
the Machinery Mile. You will see a wonderful
display of machinery, some of it very rare and
almost all collected within 100 miles of the town.
John will choose some great subjects for today’s
painting session.
DAY 7 Thursday 2 June 2022
Longreach, Queensland
Today we visit Camden Park Station, an 18,000-
acre property just a short drive from town. This
historic property has been in the Walker family for
5 generations. See the ‘Dry Bottom’ Chinaman’s
well built in the 1920s, visit Swaggies Grave and
see the huge solar farm, just one of the recent
diversifications undertaken by the family. Enjoy a
delicious lunch in the Shearing Shed while listening
to stories of when royalty came to visit. There will
be a painting session in the afternoon. This evening
there will be an included dinner.
DAY 8 Friday 3 June 2022
Winton, Queensland
Today we travel from Longreach to Winton,
Dinosaur Capital of Australia, home of Waltzing
Matilda and abundant in nature, culture and heritage. We visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre in
Winton. Outback Queensland tells the story of
Waltzing Matilda, a song that lives in the hearts
of all Australians as our unofficial anthem and the
first museum in the world dedicated to a song. The
museum tells the story of Waltzing Matilda, the
Exhibition space tells the story of WW1 and the Art
Gallery displays travelling exhibitions. This evening
there will be an included dinner.

Winton, Queensland
Bladensburg National Park is 84,900ha, impressive
flat-topped plateaus and residual sandstone ranges
provide a scenic backdrop to vast grassland plains
and river flats, river red gums and rocky scarp. It is
home to unique birdlife, plants and animals. We will
spend the day painting in the National Park. This
evening there will be an included dinner.
DAY 11 Monday 6 June 2022
Winton, Queensland
The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of
Natural History is home to the world’s largest
collection of Australian dinosaur fossils. A working
dinosaur museum with the most productive
Fossil Preparation Laboratory in the Southern
Hemisphere, it is located on 1,800 hectares of
spectacular mesa plateau with vast scenery, wildlife
and walking trails. After a tour of the Dinosaur
museum, there will be a painting session.
DAY 12 Tuesday 7 June 2022
Winton, Queensland
Our final day of painting in Winton. There will be
free time in the afternoon to finish of your work and there be a final critique session followed by
an included dinner.

This morning we will say farewell to Winton and
transfer back to Longreach airport to meet the
Brisbane flight departing at 2.35pm.

Tour deposit fully refundable up to 60 days prior to departure
Touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this activity without the need of assistance from others.
1. Payment Conditions:
A reservation deposit of $500 per person is required at the
time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to the
date of departure.
2. Alteration to Workshop Vacation Price:
The Painting Workshop Vacation price is subject to change in
the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in the cost
of travel and accommodation services. Should any increase
in the Workshop Vacation price be unacceptable to the
registered member, a full refund of monies paid will be made
3. Cancellation and Amendments:
* Cancellation conditions don’t apply for clients with future cruise/tour credits. Cruise/tour credits are non-refundable. For new bookings, cancellations received in writing 45 or more days from the date of departure will result in a fully refundable deposit. Cancellations received in writing 60 or more days from the
date of departure will result in a refund of $500 per person.
Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure
will result in a loss of all monies paid. There are no refunds
for services not utilized while on a Workshop Vacation.
Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Workshop
members for the consequences of unforeseen events during
the Workshop Vacation and for cancellation fees that could
result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies.
Once a booking has been confirmed, one amendment to
travel arrangements will be made free-of charge. Subsequent
changes to travel arrangements will incur an amendment fee
of $25 per change in addition to supplier charges.
4. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
Each Painting Workshop Vacation has been priced on the
basis of a minimum number of members travelling. In the
event that fewer than the minimum number of members
have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of
commencement, Travelrite International reserves the right to
cancel the Workshop Vacation, giving a full refund of monies
paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Workshop
Vacation at a modified price.
5. General:
In the unlikely event that the Workshop tutor is unable to
perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies,
Travelrite International reserves the right to substitute
another artist as tutor or to continue with the Workshop
Vacation as planned or to provide a cash refund to Workshop
members equivalent to the value of the Workshop leadership.
International Artist Painting Workshops can involve a
considerable amount of walking and stair-climbing in the
regions visited and it is important that all members have a
level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these
activities without the need of assistance from others.
6. Tax Considerations:
If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into
the semi-professional or professional category for taxation
purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We
recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax adviser.
8. Responsibilities:
Travelrite International Pty Ltd. and International Artist
Publishing, their agents, officers, affiliates, and/or suppliers of
services pursuant to or in connection with these Workshop
Vacations shall act only as agents in making arrangements
for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any other service
and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury,
damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property
due to an act of negligence or of default of any hotel, carrier,
restaurant, company or person rendering any services
included in the Workshops, or by act of God. Further, no
responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due
to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown,
quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism, or other
causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted
for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, rerouting or
acts of any government or authority. Baggage remains at
owner’s risk throughout the Workshop Vacation. The passage
contract in use by the carriers concerned, when issued, shall
constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the
purchasers of these Painting Workshop Vacations and/or the
passengers. The right is reserved to withdraw any Painting
Workshop Vacation and/or to make such changes in the
Painting Workshop Vacation as may be found desirable for
the convenience of the parties and the proper carrying-out of
the Painting Workshop Vacation. Registration for any Painting
Workshop Vacation constitutes a contract which shall be
construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria,
Australia and any action must be taken in the State of Victoria.
