Some evenings on the cruise there will be exclusive Pre-Dinner Drinks entertainment sessions, with each session featuring Adam Harvey, John Howie & Gill Delaney, or talented musicians from within our cruise/tour group. These informal sessions (perhaps 7 or 8 songs) have become a very popular feature of our music cruises.
The spectacular Island Princess was custom built to navigate the historic Panama Canal (she’s the maximum size a cruise ship can be to sail through the Panama Canal). In addition she boasts a high percentage of balcony staterooms (700 altogether), allowing guests an excellent chance to view the Panama Canal up-close and personal. The Island Princess features a spectacular central Atrium area, a Vegas style casino, and fabulous on-board entertainment, including Broadway-style production shows with dazzling stage sets, and featured guest entertainers (e.g.,magicians, comedians, vocalists, instrumentalists, jugglers & balancing acts).
During the day, casual clothing is typical, although shorts and swimwear are not permitted in the restaurants. During the evening on formal nights, a jacket and collared shirt is required for gentlemen and eveningwear for ladies. Casual nights require a collared shirt for gentlemen. The self-service restaurants are casual.
About a third of people on the cruise travel alone. We will match people in twin-share cabins when available, saving you the single supplement. You won’t be left alone, the Travelrite International tour manager will be there to guide you. There will be group activities almost every day.
Country singer Adam Harvey is one of the biggest names in the Australian entertainment industry. Although his voice and style are not unlike Johnny Cash or Elvis, he’s still uniquely Adam Harvey. In recent years he’s won 7 Golden Guitars at the Country Music Awards in Tamworth, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year awards. With his captivating personality and laconic humour he has gained significant recognition overseas, performing three times on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and winning the prestigious Country Music Association (of America) Global Artist Award.
John Howie will be the tour leader/manager. Since 1995 John has led many successful music tours of Ireland, Scotland, Europe, the U.S., New Zealand and the Australian outback. He has also led many successful music cruises. John is a musician and former secondary school music teacher (he taught Kylie Minogue, at Camberwell High School). He and his twin brother, Graeme, perform as The Howie Brothers, one of Australia’s leading country music / easy listening / vocal harmony acts.
Gill Delaney (accordion/ukulele/harmonica player from Wangaratta) has played in dance bands most of her life, and knows a million tunes! She will join the tour as an assistant tour leader and musician (as long as we get a reasonable number of bookings). Gill’s evening singalong sessions have been a very popular feature of previous John Howie/Travelrite music cruises, and they will be happening again on this cruise. The sessions are open to everybody on the ship and people are encouraged to bring their instruments and voices and join in.VIEW ITINERARY
