Heidi Martin started her horticultural career in the family nursery when she was 16 and has now enjoyed over 30 years in the industry. She is the owner of multi-award winning garden centre Van Loons Nursery in Victoria and is a regular co-host on 3AW’s Weekend Breakfast gardening show. Heidi is a regular identity at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show hosting demonstrations and garden talks as well as being involved in three display gardens, winning a prestigious Gold Medal. Day 1 Wednesday 16 March, 2022
On arrival at Melbourne Airport no later than 12.00 noon we will be met by our private coach and drive through the picturesque Victorian countryside to Narrapumelap, a stately home owned by the National Trust, which has recently been restored. It is the best example of French gothic style in Australia. It is surrounded by a charming garden. We continue to our overnight stop in Hamilton. We will enjoy a welcome dinner tonight to meet Heidi Martin and other tour members.
Day 2 Thursday 17 March, 2022
We continue our journey through the productive Victorian countryside and over the South Australian border to Murray Bridge. On arrival we will visit Serenity Garden Centre set among old stone buildings. They retail a vast array of plants, water features and garden sculptures.
Day 3 Friday 18 March, 2022
Today we travel by coach and ferry to Kangaroo Island, where we land at Penneshaw. The afternoon brings us to the Southern coast of the island, where we will have a tour of Seal bay, viewing the Sea Lion colony and learning about their habitats before returning to Penneshaw for our two night stay.
Day 4 Saturday 19 March, 2022
This morning we visit the Stokes Bay Bush Garden, home to over 150 species of plants unique to Kangaroo Island. The Garden spans more than 3 hectares and features a wide variety of plants including Dryandras, Orchids, and Grevilleas. We continue with a visit to the Parndana Community garden. It was set up by Sophie Thompson and other volunteers in 2020 after the devastating fires burnt out large parts of Kangaroo Island. There are herb beds on the perimeter of the garden and wicking beds around the central seating area to give an enclosed feeling. We continue to Kingscote the largest town on the island for some free time. Heidi will meet those wishing to dine with the group for dinner.
Day 5 Sunday 20 March, 2022
We travel to Adelaide today, Adelaide is a gracious city, where the early settlers built attractive stone buildings. The city has a superb setting surrounded by green parkland. This afternoon we will visit Carrick Hill a house built 62 years ago. We will enjoy a guided tour of the 400 years old interior, which was shipped from England. The house contains some wonderful antiques. Heidi will escort us around the garden, which has a large collection of roses including important collections of old fashioned and Australian roses.
Day 6 Monday 21 March, 2022
This morning we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Adelaide. We will see the art gallery, museum, state library, university and the casino. We will also visit the Adelaide Botanic Garden. We will have a guided tour of the restored Victorian Palm House and the National Rose Trial Garden as well as the International Rose Garden. There should be a gorgeous display of roses at this time of year. In the afternoon we will visit Churston. Set around a Victorian house the structured garden with a pleasant arrangement of “rooms” with surprises around every corner; sculptures, mosaics, water features and clever plantings. Make sure you visit the Bee and Butterfly garden.
Day 7 Tuesday 22 March, 2022
This morning we travel out of the city to Mt Barker, to visit Sophie’s Patch Garden, which is owned and maintained by gardening personality and author Sophie Thompson. Sophie is a regular presenter on ABC’s Gardening Australia. She will personally lead us around her productive garden. The garden is decorated with useful iron containers and sculpture made by her husband. We continue to The Laurels at Crafers. It is one of the most beautiful Adelaide Hills gardens with stunning mature trees. We will enjoy a farewell dinner this evening to say goodbye to group members.
Day 8 Wednesday 23 March, 2022
This morning we will visit Virginia Home and Garden the largest garden center in Adelaide with a large range of plants and gorgeous home décor items. We travel to the airport for our flight home. Please don’t book a flight departing before 1.00 pm.

Touring can involve a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing in the places visited and it is important that all tour participants have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in this tour without the need of assistance from others.

Tour Costs: The tour costs are based on airfare, general transport, accommodation costs and foreign exchange rate at 12/5/21. Travelrite reserves the right to alter the costs if any of these factors change, giving any passenger that has booked the right to withdraw with full refund of monies paid or modify arrangements. No alterations to price will be made within 62 days of departure from Australia.
Deposit and Payment: A deposit of $450 per person for the tour. Full payment will be required 45 days before departure for the tour. A 1.5% administration fee will be charged on payments made by credit cards.
Cancellation Charges: * Cancellation conditions don’t apply for clients with future cruise/tour credits. Cruise/tour credits are non-refundable. Cancellations outside 60 days of the tour departure will result in loss of the deposit and within 45 days for the tour departure there will be a loss of all money paid. The tour has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of passengers having booked 45 days before departure. Travelrite reserves the right to change advertised entrances if necessary for the smooth operation of the tour.
Travel insurance is recommended to cover the costs of cancellation fees due to illness, death in family, etc.
Children under 5 years of age are ineligible on coach & cruise tours. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers with disabilities are welcome on Travelrite & Cruise Offers tours provided they are accompanied by a companion capable of providing all necessary assistance, and do not require special assistance from Travelrite & Cruise Offers personnel. Travelrite and Cruise Offers reserves the right to refuse to carry anyone if it is felt the individual cannot cope with the requirements of coach & cruise tour travel and who may require services and facilities that Travelrite & Cruise Offers cannot guarantee will be available. You agree to not hold the Travelrite & Cruise Offers responsible for any decision made by any of them or any service provider to refuse to carry you, provide any facilities or accommodation to you or to provide any service to you.

The passage contract between the carriers concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the carriers and the purchasers of this tour and/or the passengers. Delays and Unforeseen Events:
You engage Travelrite International to book this tour on your behalf and you acknowledge that Travelrite International acts as your agent for the purpose of making contracts between you and the various providers of accommodation, transportation and other services that comprise the tour. Travelrite may without reference to you provide or make available to you, or may as your agent engage any third party to provide or make available to you, any good or service which Travelrite reasonably believes is necessary for your benefit to maintain the tour itinerary, repatriate you or otherwise accommodate, transport or sustain you in circumstances in which the tour itinerary fails wholly or partly for any reason. You appoint Travelrite International your attorney for this purpose. You agree to pay Travelrite any cost thereof and you indemnify Travelrite in respect of any cost it incurs in this regard. Travelrite advises you to obtain travel insurance generally including in respect of the risk that any such good or service may become required.
