DAY 1 Monday 9 November 2020 Sydney/Departure
This afternoon, board the Celebrity Solstice on this fantastic cruise to New Zealand. Be up on deck as we cruise Sydney Harbour and out through Sydney Heads.
DAY 2 Tuesday 10 November 2020 Eden
This morning we will explore the picturesque villages of the Sapphire Coast; Merimbula, Pambula, and Eden, and delve into the area’s whaling heritage at the Eden Killer Whale Museum. The afternoon will be spent at leisure for individual exploration of this charming town or for those of you who decide to return to the ship there will be an afternoon mini-duplicate.
DAY 3 Wednesday 11 November 2020 At sea
Our first day at sea! We start with a couple of morning clinics and in the afternoon join us for the ‘Welcome Pairs’. This evening, we will have a Welcome Drinks Party for group members to formally meet each other, have a drink and enjoy the privilege of the moment.
DAY 4 Thursday 12 November 2020 Melbourne
We will arrive in Melbourne this morning. There will be free time to explore this interesting city or you may join an optional ship tour of the area. For those who are interested, Gary will try and organize a Bridge game with one of the local clubs.
DAY 5 Friday 13 November 2020 At sea
A day at sea is the perfect opportunity to explore the facilities of the ship. Morning clinics followed by lunch and afternoon Bridge.
DAY 6 Saturday 14 November 2020 Hobart
We dock in Hobart this morning. We will have a guided tour of Hobart including Salamanca Place, Battery Point and a drive to the top of Mt Wellington. For those of you who decide to return to the ship there will be an afternoon duplicate.
DAY 7 Sunday 15 November 2020 At sea
Bridge today includes two morning clinics and an afternoon session of Duplicate. Alternatively, relax on board and enjoy the many activities provided by the Celebrity Solstice.
DAY 8 Monday 16 November 2020 At sea
A day at sea to explore the facilities of the ship. Morning clinics followed by lunch and afternoon Bridge.
DAY 9 Tuesday 17 November 2020 Fiordlands National Park
Nothing can prepare you for the majesty of Milford Sound, star of Fiordlands National Park. New vistas mesmerise at each turn. In this place of outstanding natural beauty towering Mitre Peak rises 1692 metres above the sound and there are plunging waterfalls, bottlenose and dusky dolphins, fur seals and Fiordland crested penguins. Sometimes called ‘The Sound of Silence’, there is a cloistered serenity within Doubtful Sound that contrasts with Milford Sound. At 40kms long and 8kms across at its widest point, Dusky Sound is one of the largest and most complex fiords in Fiordland. Dusky Sound was discovered and named in 1773 by Captain Cook, who originally called it Dusky Bay because of its sombre aspect.
DAY 10 Wednesday 18 November 2020 Dunedin
We arrive in the city of Dunedin this morning. Originally founded by Scottish settlers and known as the “Edinburgh of the South”, it consists of beautifully preserved buildings overlooking parklands. We will have a sightseeing tour of the city. We return to the ship for an afternoon duplicate.
DAY 11 Thursday 19 November 2020 Christchurch
Today we call into Lyttleton, the port for Christchurch. We will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Christchurch. With its very English feel, Christchurch is the largest city on the south island of New Zealand. The city boasts modern architecture and historic buildings set against beautiful parks, gardens, rivers and beaches.
DAY 12 Friday 20 November 2020 Wellington
Today we will have a morning sightseeing tour of the main sights of the Capital of New Zealand, Wellington, including the Houses of Parliament known as “the Beehive”. We visit Mount Victoria, where we have 360 degree views of the city. We return to the ship for an afternoon duplicate.
DAY 13 Saturday 21 November 2020 At sea
Our final day at sea! Bridge today includes 2 morning clinics and an afternoon duplicate. Alternatively, relax on board and enjoy the many activities provided by the Celebrity Solstice.
DAY 14 Sunday 22 November 2020 Tauranga/Rotorua
We arrive in Tauranga this morning. Tauranga has a thriving commercial and business centre and is a very busy port. Dominating the scene is the harbour and Mount Maunganui. We travel to Rotorua, a small city on the shores of Lake Rotorua, where we explore the geothermal activity of geysers, boiling mud pools and steaming craters. We will see a geyser display, where boiling water shoots many metres into the air, as well as the appropriately named Blue Lake and Green Lake.
DAY 15 Monday 23 November 2020 Auckland
This morning we dock in Auckland, the largest city and commercial centre of New Zealand. After disembarking, our morning city tour takes in the main sights of Auckland, including the Harbour Bridge, which spans the beautiful Waitemata Harbour, Mount Eden, where we get a panoramic view of the city, the Auckland Museum and the quaint and stylish shopping area of Parnell. We will check into our hotel mid afternoon.
DAY 16 Tuesday 24 November 2020 Auckland
There will be free time to explore this interesting city or do some shopping. For those who are interested Gary will explore the opportunity for a game with a local club.
DAY 17 Wednesday 25 November 2020 Australia
After breakfast we are transferred to the airport for our flights back to Australia.
