Day 1 Thursday March 18, 2011 Singapore
We fly to Singapore today. On arrival we will be met by our private coach and transferred to our hotel.
Day 2 Friday March 19, 2011 Queen Elizabeth
Today we have a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the modern city of Singapore. We will visit historic China Town and the beautiful Orchid Garden. This afternoon we board the Queen Elizabeth to begin our fabulous cruise.
Day 3 Saturday March 20, 2011 Kuala Lumpur
We have a sightseeing tour of the interesting and modern capital of Malaysia. We see the twin Petronas Towers, once the tallest buildings in the world, and the many fine buildings that date from colonial times in the Lake Gardens area where the British elite built their fine houses. We see the massive National Monument overlooking the Lake Gardens. This evening we will have a Welcome Cocktail Party to celebrate the start of the cruise.
Day 4 Sunday March 21, 2011 Penang
Penang is the oldest of the British Straits settlements in Malaysia. Georgetown, the capital of Penang is a compact city, steeped in history, with a slightly old fashioned character. Ancient trades such as rattan weaving, joss stick making, woodcarving and fortune telling are still practiced. Chinese and Indian temples, neoclassical reminders of the Raj and a plethora of old-fashioned little shops are an attractive part of Georgetown. We see Lebuh Pantai the main street crammed with banks and stately buildings and Chinatown. We drive to the attractive northern beaches.
Day 5 Monday March 22, 2011 Langkawi
Today we have a full day in the legendary island of Langkawi. Kuah is the island’s main town. The island is steeped in legends and is supposed to be the resting-place of the mythological bird Garuda. We will visit Langkawi Crystal, a glass blowing works and next door the Kedah marble quarry. We travel on to visit Langkawi Bird Paradise an attractive tropical garden where you can see one hundred and fifty species of exotic birds. We drive past the magnificent beaches.
Day 6 Tuesday March 23, 2011 At sea
A day at sea, perhaps enjoy pampering in the Cunard Health Club and Spa. This afternoon we will play Travelrite International Bingo with prizes for the winners.
Day 7 Wednesday March 24, 2011 At sea
The day is free to enjoy the wonderful facilities of the ship. Visit the Library, where you can borrow from over six thousand titles. In the evening attend a show in the splendid Royal Court Theatre.
Day 8 Thursday March 25, 2011 At sea
A day to enjoy the facilities of the ship, perhaps attend a Broadway style show. Come and test your knowledge this morning with a game of Travelrite International Trivial Pursuit.
Day 9 Friday March 26, 2011 Cochin
The morning will be free. In the early afternoon we have a sightseeing tour of this ancient Indian city. We visit the historic Fort Cochin and see the oldest church in India, built by the Portuguese that dates from the 1503. Vasco de Gama, the famous explorer was originally buried here.
Day 10 Saturday March 27, 2011 At sea
Today you may choose to have a swim or enjoy a book while lying on one of the many deck chairs. This afternoon we have a fun session of Travelrite International Bingo.
Day 11 Sunday March 28, 2011 Mumbai
We have a comprehensive sightseeing tour of Bombay, with its majestic architecture, its traditional red double decker buses and gain an insight into the wonders of India. Mumbai, the financial capital of India is an enormous city of about twenty million people. We see the Gateway of India, which was officially opened in 1924. Located nearby is the majestic Taj Mahal Hotel built in 1903. We see Victoria Terminus, an extravagant Gothic building, which is the main railway station.
Day 12 Monday March 29, 2011 At sea
A free day to enjoy the facilities of the ship. This afternoon join our group for shipboard sports. We will organise members of the group in pairs to play quoits and shuffleboard with prizes for the winners.
Day 13 Tuesday March 30, 2011 Muscat
Today we arrive in the city of Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman. On our sightseeing tour we travel to the city of Nizwa to visit Jabrin Castle, one of the finest and most picturesque in Oman. We then visit the Nizwa Fort, the oldest in Oman. It was founded in 1668, but took many years to complete, the enormous tower alone taking thirty years. We visit Nizwa souk, where we find locally crafted goods such as silver jewellery, copper and weaving. We return to the ship late afternoon.
Day 14 Wednesday March 31, 2011 Dubai
This morning we arrive in the city of Dubai. We disembark and are met by our private coach and have a sightseeing tour. We see the modern developments that have catapulted this city into the twenty-first century over the last few years. We are transferred to our hotel.
Day 15 Thursday April 1, 2011 Dubai
Today will be free for shopping and exploring Dubai. Late afternoon, we are transferred by 4WD vehicles into the desert for our exciting final night celebratory dinner under the stars with traditional entertainment. It will be a fantastic conclusion to our voyage from Singapore to Dubai on Queen Elizabeth!
Day 16 Friday April 2, 2011 In flight
This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight home.
Day 17 Saturday April 3, 2011 Australia
We arrive in Australian ports this morning and the tour concludes. |
