Golf Courses and Tee Times:
Applications have been made for all the courses and most importantly, the times for the 3 courses at Pebble Beach and the other 2 courses on the Monterey Peninsula have been confirmed. On some of the desert venues specific times will not be available until 90 days out.
Deposits and Payments:
Travelrite International has to pay substantial deposits up-front to secure dates on these elite golf courses as well as to book accommodation in the high quality hotels. You are therefore required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.00, per passenger, at the time of booking. The final balance is due within 60 days of departure. Cancellation by you within 60 days of departure will result in the loss of all monies paid. The Tour is based on arrangements which do NOT allow for refunds for any services not utilised, once the Tour has commenced.
Maximum Handicaps:
US courses do not require a handicap certificate but golfing competence is expected. As a guide, maximum handicaps of 24 for Men and 34 for Ladies would suffice to allow you to enjoy your golf. Everyone most probably has a current handicap certificate or Golf Link print out and it is handy to carry it although you may not be asked to produce it.
Exchange Rates:
At present the Australian dollar is at a near record high level against the green back so, providing that strength is maintained it is an excellent time to visit the USA. Tour prices are based on the average exchange rates as at the end of November ‟09. Travelrite International reserves the right to add a surcharge if the Australian dollar weakens against the US dollar. No change will be made within 60 days of departure.
Minimum Numbers:
The Tour has been based on a minimum of 12 paying passengers. If less than this minimum has booked 60 days prior to departure, Travelrite reserves the right to cancel the Tour, giving a prompt refund of all monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed at a modified cost.
Baggage Allowance:
Passengers travelling to and from the USA are allowed to book two bags into the hold providing they weigh less than 22 kg (50 lbs) each, so you should have no prolems with golf clubs. You are also allowed to take on board a cabin bag as long as it meets size regulations and does not exceed 7 kg (15 lbs) in weight.
Travel Documents:
All travellers must be in possession of a valid passport. Before leaving you will need to fill in, a US Visa Waiver form (electronically).
Weather and Clothing:
Reference has been made earlier to the delicate task of picking the right time to avoid the heat of the desert, but not to be too affected by cool spring temperatures in notoriously unpredictable northern California. October is generally considered to be one of the prime golfing times on the Monterey Peninsula and October/November for the desert. To give you a bench mark, for the same time as you will be in the two regions next year, the average daily conditions are: o Scottsdale Arizona – ave max 80 F (26 C) and it is a totally dry heat; ave min 60 F (15.5 C ); rainfall virtually nil o Monterey – ave max 64 F (17.7 C); ave min 47 F (8.3 C); rainfall 1.4 inches. You will no doubt already have appropriate clothing so don‟t buy anything new because excellent golfing gear is available in the USA at very reasonable prices.
